Brandywine Track & Field Competes At Ursinus

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Penn State Brandywine track and field team continued the 2018 outdoor season Saturday afternoon at the Ursinus College Invitational, finishing 10th in a field comprised of NCAA Division III teams.

Taufiq Brown (Philadelphia, Pa./Communications Tech) set a 100-meter school record in the preliminary round to lead the team on Saturday. Brown's time of 11.45 seconds bested Ezenwa Osuagwu's previous benchmark set last April at the USCAA Invitational of 11.52 seconds. Finishing sixth in a field of 29 runners during preliminary rounds, Brown time was enough to qualify for the finals.

At 200 meters, Brown produced a 12th-place showing, running to a time of 24.21 seconds, while Brendan Cleary (Chadds Ford, Pa./Garnet Valley) ran the 5,000-meter race in a time of 19:03.46, claiming a ninth-place finish.

In the javelin, David White's (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) second of three throws traveled 34.38 meters, putting him in 12th place in the event.

The host Bears totaled 146 points to win the team title, while Lincoln claimed second with 116 points.

Brandywine travels to Glassboro, N.J., to compete in Rowan University's Oscar Moore Invitational on Saturday, April 7.
