Brandywine Women Claim Seventh, Men Ninth At Albright

READING, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine women's indoor track & field team posted a seventh-place showing, while the Lions' men's team finished ninth at the Albright College Indoor Invitational on Saturday.

Brandywine's women accumulated 16 total points in the field of 12 teams as Catharine Mooney (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) shined in the 400- and 800-meter runs. Mooney posted second-place finishes in both events to earn all 16 of Brandywine's team points. She ran to a time of 1:07.61 at 400 meters and later crossed the finish line in 2:55.19 during the 800-meter run.

The men's team had three different runners rack up points en route to placing ninth among the 15 squads in the field.

Brian Abel (Amesbury, Mass./Amesbury) amassed seven points after finishing third of 11 competitors in the mile run and eighth at 400 meters. Abel completed the mile in 5:09.95 and recorded a time of 1:00.45 in the 400-meter sprint. Both of those times were good for second-fastest in their respective events in school history.

The combination of Brendan Cleary (Chadds Ford, Pa./Garnet Valley) and Ryan Cassidy (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) added 11 points after finishing back-to-back in third and fourth place, respectively, in the 3,000-meter run. Cleary completed the race in 10:52.34 and Cassidy was exactly two seconds behind him.

In addition, Anmol Singh (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion) fired a long throw of 9.10 meters, the third-longest in program history, to place 20th in the shot put, while Jose Campos (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) tossed a throw of 7.15 meters.

Daniel Zimmerman (Cheyney, Pa./Rustin) competed in the 200-meter and 400-meter sprints, finishing the 200-meter in 28.77, while posting a time of 1:03.65 at 400 meters.

Brandywine rounds out the indoor season Saturday at the Penn State Tune-Up Meet.
