Brandywine Wraps Up Indoor Season At Penn State

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- A pair of school records fell during the final meet of the indoor track and field season for Penn State Brandywine on Saturday afternoon inside the Ashenfelter Track during the Penn State University Tune-Up.

Brian Abel (Amesbury, Mass./Amesbury) smashed his own program mark in the mile run, while John Li (Upper Darby, Pa./Upper Darby) bested Brandywine's 3,000-meter record by nearly 23 seconds. Abel, whose previous best mile came in December at Princeton (5:04.51), finished in 4:50.48 to claim 15th. Li posted a time of 10:29.52, topping the prior record of 10:52.34, as he ran to 20th at 3,000 meters.

Abel also ran the second-fastest 800-meter time in Brandywine's indoor history, crossing the finish line in 2:05.66, placing 14th.

Anmol Singh (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion) recorded a top-10 showing in the shot put, tossing a throw of 9.0 meters, while Jose Campos (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) set a personal best with a heave of 7.31 meters.

Daniel Zimmerman (Cheyney, Pa./Rustin) competed in both the 60-meter and 200-meter sprints. He was ninth at 60 meters (8.12 seconds) and placed 11th at 200 meters (26.49 seconds), while Ryan Cassidy (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) crossed the line in 11:04.22 during the 3,000-meter race.

Brandywine begins the outdoor track and field season March 23 at West Chester University's Golden Ram Invitational.
