Two School Indoor Records Fall At Collegeville Classic

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine indoor track and field teams saw a pair of program records fall as the Lions returned from a month-long break at Ursinus College's Collegeville Classic on Saturday.

Tyler Lyon (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) notched the first record of the day in the shot put. His long toss was measured at 10.77 meters, besting the previous mark, which Lyon held, of 10.24 meters. Lyon finished third in his 12-man flight and placed 26th overall.

Nwabueze Onyemachi (Aldan, Pa./Monsignor Bonner) collected the second record as he ran to a time of 24.42 seconds in the 200-meter sprint, placing 32nd in the 66-man race. He topped Taufiq Brown's record of 24.45 seconds, which had stood for the last two years.

Onyemachi also posted a personal-best time when he completed the 60-meter dash in 7.38 seconds, claming 18th in a field of 62 runners.

During the women's 60-meter dash, Dallas Barber (Wilmington, Del./Brandywine) recorded a time of 8.64 seconds, taking third in her heat and 22nd overall, while Angel Asomugha (Brookhaven, Pa./Sun Valley) recorded a time of 3:16.66 in the 800-meter run.

Alex Rosenberry (Etters, Pa./West Shore Christian) ran to the second-fastest time in program history (4:59.69) during the men's one-mile run, claiming 28th place, and Luca D'Aprano (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) registered the program's third-best mark at 400 meters (1:02.89). D'Aprano also competed in the 200-meter sprint, posting a time of 27.17 seconds.

Brandywine is back in action Feb. 8 at Alvernia's PLEX Shootout.
