Bio

Joe Frassenei completed his first season as head cross country and assistant track & field coach at Penn State Brandywine following the completion of the 2016-17 academic year.

During his first season at Brandywine, Frassenei guided two men's cross country runners to appearances at the USCAA National Championship and saw three student-athletes earn all-conference honors. The men's cross country squad placed second at the PSUAC championship under his direction, while the men's track & field team posted a fifth-place finish at nationals during its first season of varsity competition. Frassenei's student-athletes also did well in the classroom as 11 were honored on the PSUAC Track & Field All-Academic Team and six cross country runners earned the same accolades during the fall.

Frassenei came to Brandywine from Woodstown High School in New Jersey where he spent the last 25 years as head girl’s track coach and 17 years as head girl’s cross country coach. Additionally, he spent over a decade as the school’s wrestling coach.

Also a physical education and health teacher at Woodstown, Frassenei built one of the top cross country and track & field programs in the state, serving as a mentor to hundreds of student-athletes and assistant coaches during his time with each program. Frassenei also established and ran funraising programs to benefit teams and student-athletes.

Frassenei owns a bachelor’s degree in education from West Chester University and a master’s degree in school leadership from Wilmington University.
