Brandywine Men Place Second At PSUAC Championship; Two Qualify For Nationals

MONT ALTO, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine men's cross country team claimed second place for the third consecutive year at the Penn State University Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships on Saturday afternoon. Two of the Lions' runners qualified for the USCAA National Championships after running to top-10 finishes.

Fayette won the men's title, edging Brandywine by 23 points, while DuBois took third and Schuylkill was fourth. Mont Alto claimed the women's championship.

Sophomore John Li (Upper Darby, Pa./Upper Darby) qualified for the national meet for the second-straight year after running to a fifth-place finish. Li, who also earned first team all-conference, ran to a time of 31:24.

Freshman Alex Troncelliti (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) will be joining Li at the USCAA Championships after taking ninth with a time of 32:24 on the 8K course. Troncelliti claimed second team all-conference honors.

Henry Lee (Upper Darby, Pa./Upper Darby) ran to a time of 36:33, placing 19th, while Isaiah Gordon (Chester, Pa./Chichester) was 29th (40:02) and James Uyanna (Philadelphia, Pa./John Bartram) took 33rd (44:21).

Brooke Theveny (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley) was the top finisher for the Brandywine women, running to 12th with a time of 34:38 on the 6K course. Meredith Simpson (Wenonah, N.J./Ursuline Academy) placed 19th in 46:28.

The USCAA Cross Country Championships will take place on Nov. 11 in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
