Brandywine Places Six In Top 11 At Cheyney Invitational

MEDIA, Pa. -- Five members of the Penn State Brandywine men's cross country team finished in the top 11, while A'Nasia Love (Trenton, N.J./Trenton Central) paced the women's squad by placing 11th during the Cheyney Invitational at the Westtown School on Saturday morning.

Love posted a time of 24:05 on the 5K course, the fifth-fastest 5K time in program history. She also topped her personal best time of 26:01 which came last week during her collegiate debut at Bryn Mawr.

Brooke Theveny (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley) was Brandywine's second woman to cross the finish line, running to a time of 26:54, also a personal-best time on a 5K course. Running her first race of the season, Bintu Sherman (Philadelphia, Pa./Parkway Center) ran the race in 35:38.

Five of Brandywine's six men's runners finished in the top 11, helping the Lions place second overall in the five-team field. NCAA Division II University of the Sciences edged Brandywine for the team title.

David Fielding (West Chester, Pa./Salesianum), John Li (Upper Darby, Pa./Upper Darby) and Brendan Cleary (Chadds Ford, Pa./Garnet Valley) finished consecutively with Fielding leading the way in fifth place. Fielding ran to a 5K time of 18:44, while Li crossed the line five seconds following Fielding and Cleary time of 19:02 was good enough for seventh.

Luke Dixon (Wayne, Pa./Radnor) was 10th overall (20:00) and Steve Milnes (West Chester, Pa./Central Bucks South) followed him in 11th at 20:14. Rouding out Brandywine's runners was William Ortiz (Queens, N.Y./Martin Luther School), who sped to a time of 24:45.

Brandywine travels to the Penn State Abington Invitational next Saturday morning at 8:00 AM.
