Abel Collects Fourth PSUAC Runner Of The Week Award

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – For the fourth time this fall, Penn State Brandywine freshman Brian Abel (Amesbury, Mass./Amesbury) has been selected as the Penn State University Athletic Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week the league announced on Tuesday.

Abel smashed his own school 8K record at Salisbury University's Don Cathcart Invitational on Saturday, besting his previous mark by 28 seconds. He completed the course in 27:34, giving him the 27th-best time overall in the 129-man field.

Through four 8K races, Abel now owns three of the top five times in school history. Earlier this season, he broke the 8K record for the first time at the Lebanon Valley Invitational, one week after earning the first-ever individual championship in Brandywine history at the season-opening Delaware Valley Invitational.

Brandywine is idle this weekend in advance of its home invitational on Oct. 13.
