Four Brandywine Softball Players Honored For Academics

MEDIA, Pa. -- Four student-athletes from the 2015-16 Penn State Brandywine softball team were honored by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association as All-America Scholar-Athletes recently. Juniors Julie Foeldes (Kendall Park, N.J./South Brunswick) and Robyn Gannon (Lansdowne, Pa./Archbishop Prendergast) and sophomores Steph Harvey (Berlin, N.J./Eastern Regional) and Maddie Malfara (Ardsley, Pa./Abington) all landed awards for their academic prowess.

A total of 4,022 collegiate student-athletes were honored with Brandywine's foursome being the lone Penn State University Athletic Conference and United States Collegiate Athletic Association representatives. The only additional Penn State campus garnering honorees was University Park, which also had four student-athletes honored.

The quartet of Lions helped Brandywine win its second consecutive PSUAC championship in 2016. Brandywine placed fourth at the USCAA World Series, the top finish by any team from Brandywine at a national tournament.

Foeldes also claimed USCAA National Academic Team honors last spring, while Gannon was named first team all-American and Harvey earned all-American honorable mention laurels.
