Brandywine Athletes, Staff Honored At Women’s Commission Luncheon

MEDIA, Pa. -- Sophomore softball player Stephanie Harvey and Assistant Athletic Director Bobbi Caprice earned Penn State Brandywine's Woman of the Year awards at the campus' annual Women's Commission Luncheon on Thursday afternoon. In addition, junior softball player Julie Foeldes received her medal after she was named one of the University's Evan Pugh Scholars at last week's academic recognition ceremony.

Harvey, who earned the student's Woman of the Year award, was a First Team All-PSUAC and USCAA All-American honorable mention as a freshman. Along with her on-field recognition, Harvey has earned academic awards, including NFCA Scholar-Athlete and PSUAC All-Academic Team. Earlier this year, Harvey danced in THON in the Bryce Jordan Center at University Park,  helping the campus raise over $31,000, which benefits children and families affected by pediatric cancer. In addition, Harvey also serves as a Lion Ambassador and earned orientation leader of the year honors for her work as a new student orientation leader last summer.

Caprice, in the midst of her fourth year on the Brandywine athletics staff, has expanded her role to include aiding in student-athlete recruitment, academic monitoring, oversight of the campus' fitness center, intramurals and more. From October-December 2016, she stepped in as interim director of athletics, adding even more duties to her already busy agenda. Prior to joining the athletics staff, Caprice was a 1,000-point scorer and John S. Egli Award winner as the top female student-athlete in the Penn State University Athletic Conference during her four seasons on the women's basketball team.

Foeldes was one of 137 Penn State juniors among over 17,000 in the class, and the lone Brandywine student, to receive Evan Pugh Scholar accolades, which are annually received by juniors whose grade-point average ranks among the top 0.5 percent of their class. A psychology major, Foeldes has claimed USCAA National Academic Team and PSUAC All-Academic Team laurels during her three seasons as a member of the softball team.
