DeRosa Lands Second Pitcher Of The Week Honor From USCAA

MEDIA, Pa. -- For the second time in three weeks, Penn State Brandywine sophomore Grace DeRosa (Glenside, Pa./Cheltenham) has been selected as the national pitcher of the week by the United States Collegiate Athletic Association.

DeRosa threw the first perfect game in Brandywine softball history on Sunday afternoon in a victory over Penn State Wilkes Barre. The perfect game came just less than 48 hours after she fired a no-hitter against the same Wilkes Barre squad.

Of the nine batters she faced Sunday, five were retired via strikeout, while two grounded out and two popped. None of the four balls put in play against DeRosa left the infield. Two days earlier, DeRosa matched a career high with nine strikeouts, while also not allowing a ball to leave the infield.

Overall, DeRosa has thrown three no-hitters this season as she also held Penn State Scranton hitless on March 24. She has thrown four consecutive shutouts against league foes and brings a 2.70 earned run average and team-high 41 strikeouts into Tuesday's home doubleheader against Penn State Schuylkill.
