Stephanie Harvey Earns Academic All-District Recognition From CoSIDA

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine sophomore Stephanie Harvey (Berlin, N.J./Eastern Regional) was selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team the organization announced on Thursday.

Harvey is the fourth Brandywine student-athlete overall since 2014 to earn academic all-district accolades (Manny Amine - men's soccer; Miranda Biondi - volleyball; Tom Osenbach - baseball) and the first softball player ever honored with the award.

As a first team all-district honoree, she moves on to the national ballot with the opportunity to become Brandywine's third academic all-American in school history. Harvey will be up against the additional 51 all-district softball selections from non-NCAA institutions throughout the United States and Canada for a spot on the Academic All-America First and Second Teams.

Harvey is involved on campus as a fundraising captain for Brandywine's chapter of THON and serves as a Lion Ambassador in the admissions office, while also working as a new student orientation leader, where she was named orientation leader of the year. Also named the Brandywine Woman of the Year, Harvey helped the campus raise over $31,000 for THON, which benefits childen and families affected by pediatric cancer, and became Brandywine's first student-athlete to dance in THON earlier this year.

In addition, Harvey has earned academic recognition from the National Fast-Pitch Coaches Association, the Penn State University Athletic Conference and the United States Collegiate Athletic Association. As a communication sciences and disorders major, Harvey owns a 3.82 grade-point average.

Following her freshman softball season, Harvey garnered all-American honorable mention laurels from the USCAA and was a First Team All-PSUAC selection. In 69 career games, Harvey has compiled a .340 batting average with 55 hits and 47 runs batted in.

Brandywine, the top seed in the PSUAC Tournament, begins postseason play Sunday in Scranton against Penn State Fayette at 1:00 pm.
