DeStefano, Segich Land On USCAA All-America Second Team

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine's Katie DeStefano (Kennett Square, Pa./Kennett) and Arianna Segich (Ocean City, N.J./Ocean City) were both selected as second team softball all-Americans by the United States Collegiate Athletic Association recently.

Now a two-time all-American after claiming first team accolades as a freshman, DeStefano batted .386 with 29 runs scored and 18 runs batted in during 36 games this season. She tied for second on the team with 12 extra-base hits, including six triples, a total that stood second nationally.

In the circle, DeStefano won five games and struck out 28 batters in 41.0 innings pitched. She fired the first no-hitter of her career at Penn State Wilkes Barre on April 9.

DeStefano owns 19 victories and 152 strikeouts during 44 career appearances in the circle. She also is a .375 hitter with 81 hits and 56 RBI during the last three seasons.

The PSUAC Player of the Year, Segich ranked second nationally with 36 stolen bases and tied for seventh with 50 hits. She became the second Lion to cross the 100 hit mark for her career at the USCAA World Series on May 16 against Judson College and collected at least one knock in 30-of-34 games overall this spring. Segich batted .450, while scoring 37 runs, tied for the sixth-highest total in the USCAA.

In 77 career games, Segich owns 101 hits and is a .421 hitter. She has stolen 71 bases in 74 attempts, while scoring 87 runs and collecting five home runs and 47 runs batted in.

Brandywine finished in fourth place at the USCAA Tournament for the second consecutive season. The Lions have won at least 23 games in three-straight years.
