Foeldes Named To Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Softball Team

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine rising senior Julie Foeldes (Kendall Park, N.J./South Brunswick) was one of 10 student-athletes selected to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Softball Team on Thursday.

Foeldes is the fourth Penn State Brandywine student-athlete and first softball player to land the award, which honors students from more than 30 colleges and universities in the Greater Philadelphia area.

A psychology major, Foeldes owns a 3.98 grade-ponit average entering her senior year. In March, she was honored as an Evan Pugh Scholar by Penn State as one of 137 juniors University-wide and the only student from Brandywine to rank in the top 0.5 percent of her class, which includes over 17,000 students. She also earned USCAA National Academic Team honors for the second time and PSUAC All-Academic laurels for the third time this spring.

On the field, Foeldes played in all 38 games, batting .317 with two home runs, 22 RBI and 21 runs scored. She was selected to the USCAA All-World Series Team after collecting eight hits in 14 at-bats, while helping Brandywine to its second-straight fourth-place finish. Entering her senior season, Foeldes needs 16 hits to become the third Brandywine softball player to reach 100 career hits.
