PSUAC Names DeStefano Pitcher Of The Week

MEDIA, Pa. -- For the third time during her four-year career, Penn State Brandywine senior Katie DeStefano (Kennett Square, Pa./Kennett) was selected as the pitcher of the week by the Penn State University Athletic Conference on Wednesday.

DeStefano, who has pitched every inning during each of Brandywine's eight games this spring, went 3-1 last week, while throwing a pair of shutouts.

She fired a two-hit shutout Friday against the College of St. Joseph, four days after blanking Maine-Presque Isle during an 8-0 Lions' win, limiting the Owls to four hits. DeStefano, who now owns 12 shutouts during her career, posted an earned run average of 3.50 and struck out 13 batters overall last week.

In eight games this season, DeStefano, a two-time USCAA All-American, owns a 4-4 record with 24 strikeouts and a 4.40 ERA in 43.0 innings in the circle. At the plate, she boasts a .333 batting average with one home run and three runs batted in.

Brandywine's home doubleheader scheduled for Thursday has been postponed. The Lions will be back at Maple Zone Tuesday for a non-conference doubleheader against Wesley College beginning at 3:00 pm.
