Alexa Anderson Claims Hitter Of The Week Honor

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine sophomore first baseman Alexa Anderson (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford) was selected as the Penn State University Athletic Conference Softball Hitter of the Week on Tuesday.

Anderson went 16-for-23 at the plate, batting nearly .700 in six Brandywine victories last week. Six of her 16 hits went for extra bases, including four home runs in a four-game series sweep over Penn State Scranton.

Anderson delivered a trio of three-hit games and went 4-for-4 in Sunday's regular season finale at Scranton, while also driving in 15 runs during the week. She collected at least two RBI in each game and set a season high with six runs batted in against Scranton on Friday.

The PSUAC leader in RBI, Anderson has knocked in 41 runs this spring, the second-highest total in the USCAA. She also owns a .481 batting average, 15 extra-base hits, and 32 runs scored in 24 games.

Entering the PSUAC Tournament, Anderson owns an eight-game hitting streak and has produced nine multi-hit efforts in her last 11 games.

Brandywine, the No. 2 seed in the PSUAC Eastern Division, hosts No. 3 Penn State Hazleton in an elimination game of the PSUAC Tournament Friday at Maple Zone at 4:00 PM.
