PSUAC And USCAA Select Arianna Segich Hitter Of The Week

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine junior centerfielder Arianna Segich (Ocean City, N.J./Ocean City) was tabbed as the Penn State University Athletic Conference and United States Collegiate Athletic Association Softball Hitter of the Week by the governing bodies on Tuesday.

During Brandywine's 11-3 PSUAC Tournament victory over Hazleton last Friday, Segich launched two home runs, while going 3-for-4 with three runs batted in and three runs scored overall in the game. Her second long ball, a two-run shot, ended the game by run rule during the bottom of the fifth inning.

In 25 games this spring, Segich tied for the team lead with seven home runs, while driving in 24 and scoring 40 times, the second-highest total in the league. She also ranked third in stolen bases (20) and tied for seventh with 41 hits, batting .477 overall.

Brandywine's all-time hits leader, Segich owns 142 knocks during her three-year, 125-game career.

Second-seeded Brandywine (22-8-1) faces West Division No. 1 seed Penn State Fayette Sunday in the PSUAC Tournament at Beard Field on the campus of Penn State. Game time is 11:00 AM.
