Sullivan Collects USCAA Hitter Of The Week Honor

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine freshman Alyssa Sullivan (Pennsburg, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) was named United States Collegiate Athletic Association Softball Hitter of the Week on Tuesday.

Sullivan batted .524 with 11 hits during 21 at-bats in six games last week. Her biggest hit of the week came in a come-from-behind 7-4 victory over Penn State Hazleton on Thursday when Sullivan blasted a go-ahead, three-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning.

For the week, Sullivan totaled five extra-base hits, six RBI and scored four runs. She hit safely in all six games and added a hit in both games of a doubleheader sweep of Stratford on Tuesday, extending her hitting streak to 13 games, tied for the fifth-longest streak in Brandywine softball history.

Sullivan is Brandywine's leading hitter with a .412 batting average, while playing in all 28 games this spring. She ranks third on the team with 35 hits and has collected two home runs, 23 RBI and 13 runs scored.

Brandywine (15-13, 6-2 PSUAC) visits Cedar Crest next Tuesday for a 2:00 pm doubleheader.
