Brandywine Splits At DuBois

DUBOIS, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine's offense exploded for 19 runs in a game one win, but was limited to just one run as the Lions dropped their first conference game of the season in the nightcap, falling 8-1 at Penn State DuBois.

Game One: Penn State Brandywine 19, Penn State DuBois 7

Brandywine answered DuBois' two first inning runs with a three spot in the second and built an 8-2 edge heading to the bottom of the third; however, DuBois answered with five-straight runs to cut the Lions' lead to 8-7. Brandywine pulled away late, scoring a combined 11 runs during the final two frames.

Jess James (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) paced the offense with three hits, six RBI and three runs scored, while Karly Rees (Oxford, Pa./Oxford) was 4-for-4 woth four RBI and crossed home four times. Payton Landis (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) notched two hits and four runs scored.

Maddie DeFazio (Fairless Hills, Pa./Pennsbury) earned her first win of the season in the circle, while Isabella Hurta (Colts Neck, N.J./Red Bank Catholic) tossed two scoreless innings of relief.

Game Two: Penn State DuBois 8, Penn State Brandywine 1

Brandywine was limited to a season low five hits, while suffering its first conference loss of the year.

Rees posted three of the knocks for the Lions, while Lexi Bussenger (Bangor, Pa./Bangor) scored the Lions' lone run via DuBois error.
