Brandywine Cruises To Sixth-Straight Victory

MEDIA, Pa. – Penn State Brandywine forced 30 turnovers en route to claiming its sixth-straight victory during an 82-59 Penn State University Athletic Conference women's basketball triumph over Penn State Greater Allegheny on Saturday afternoon.

Brandywine outscored GA 11-2 over the opening 2:28 of the game as Madison D'Ambrosio (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) completed a three-point play to make it a nine-point Lion lead. Crystal Miller's (Pleasant Valley, N.Y./Arlington) layup with 2:11 to go in the first quarter pushed the advantage to double figures and Brandywine brought a 22-7 edge into the second quarter.

Miller netted six-straight points midway through the second stanza as the lead swelled to 24 points and scored eight overall during the period. Danielle Chattin's (Philadelphia, Pa./Parkway Center) put-back made the score 41-20 at the break.

Brandywine continued to roll during the second half. Kendra Stanford (Philadelphia, Pa./William Bodine) and Miller each recorded six points during the third quarter and Brandywine's lead stood at 65-45 after 30 minutes. Greater Allegheny never pulled closer than 20 points over the final 10 minutes.

Brandywine, which shot 45 percent from the field, received 37 points from its reserves and recorded 27 points following Greater Allegheny turnovers.

Miller paced all players after pouring in a career-high 22 points on 10-of-15 shooting. She and Stanford, who netted 16 points, both hauled in six rebounds. D'Ambrosio rounded out Brandywine's double-figure scorers with 11 points, along with six assists, five rebounds and four steals, while Ginamarie McNamee (Aston, Pa./Interboro) chipped in eight points and Alyssa Abbonizio (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) buried three triples for nine points.

Brandywine (12-5, 8-0 PSUAC) begins a three-game road trip Monday at Trinity University (D.C.) at 6:00 pm.
