LANCASTER BIBLE, Pa. -- The difference was the fourth quarter as Lancaster Bible outscored Penn State Brandywine 21-13 over the final 10 minutes to earn a 62-55 non-conference women's basketball victory on Monday night.
Brandywine (0-2) was paced by Brandi James (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro), who supplied 16 points and eight rebounds. Madison D'Ambrosio (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) added 14 points, while Nicolette Napoleon (Springfield, Pa./Penn Charter) dished out six assists.
The Lions entered the fourth quarter holding a one-point lead, but the Chargers held Brandywine scoreless for the first 3:10, netting the first eight points of the stanza to jump in front. LBC pushed the lead to 13 points with two minutes to go before a late Brandywine rally, fueled by five points from Nikki Velez (Gloucester, N.J./Gloucester City), brought the Lions back within six.
Dana D'Ambrosio (Secane, Pa./Ridley) got the Brandywine deficit as low as four points by sinking a layup with 13 seconds left, but Lancaster Bible sank three-of-four free throws during the final 10 seconds to ice the game.
Brandywine will play on its home floor for the first time in 2018-19 on Wednesday when it hosts Widener at 7:00 pm.
