Brandywine Cruises Past Schuylkill 71-37

MEDIA, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine women's basketball team completed a season sweep of Penn State Schuylkill and clinched a top-two seed in the Penn State University Athletic Conference Tournament in the process, winning 71-37 on its home floor Wednesday night.

The Lions ran away from the start, shooting 54 percent from the field in the first half, en route to building a 25-point halftime lead.

Nikki Velez (Gloucester, N.J./Gloucester City) knocked down two three-pointers, Madison D'Ambrosio (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) added a triple and Beatrice Oladeji (Upper Darby, Pa./Penn Wood) capped Brandywine's game-opening 15-3 run with a layup. 

The Lions led 28-12 after one quarter and continued to grow the lead during the next period, using a 13-0 surge to end the half to grow the margin to 50-25. 

The second half was more of the same for Brandywine, which outscored the visitors 21-12 during the final 20 minutes.

Oladeji topped the Lions in scoring with a career-best 11 points and collected four steals. Amelia Brooks (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) produced 10 points and nine rebounds, while Hope Coacher (Ardmore, Pa./Haverford) tallied 10 points and seven boards. Danielle Chattin (Philadelphia, Pa./Parkway Center) chipped in with eight points and 10 rebounds. 

Madison Michael (Brookhaven, Pa./Sun Valley) and Ginamarie McNamee (Aston, Pa./Interboro) both handed out four assists for Brandywine, which recorded assists on 15 of 31 field goals and outrebounded Schuylkill 58-38. 

Brandywine committed just eight turnovers, while forcing the visitors into 21 miscues.

Brandywine (13-7, 10-2 PSUAC) heads to western Pennsylvania for two games this weekend beginning Friday at Penn State DuBois (6:00 pm).
