Brandywine Drops First PSUAC Game At York

YORK, Pa. -- Playing its first Penn State University Athletic Conference game of the 2021-22 season, the Penn State Brandywine women's basketball team suffered a 65-44 defeat at Penn State York Tuesday night.

Ally Velez (Gloucester, N.J./Gloucester City) and Amanda Floyd (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) combined for 28 of Brandywine's 44 points. Each totaled 14 points and Velez pulled down nine rebounds, while Floyd collected eight boards. Anaiyah Allen (Lutz, Fla./Steinbrenner) added six rebounds for the Lions, who suffered their first loss after a three-game winning streak to open the year.

York led wire-to-wire, scoring the first 10 points of the game before Brandywine cut the deficit to 14-9 after one quarter. The hosts expanded the margin to 12 points by halftime and outscored the Lions 33-24 during the game's final 20 minutes.

Brandywine shot 34 percent from the field, while York connected on 48 percent of its shots and held a 32-27 edge on the boards.

Brandywine (3-1, 0-1 PSUAC) continues conference play Friday at home against Penn State New Kensington at 6:00 PM.
