Brandywine Wins Big On Senior Night

MEDIA, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine women's basketball team celebrated Senior Night with a lopsided 71-27 victory over Penn State Wilkes-Barre on Thursday night.

Senior Amelia Brooks (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) paced the rebounding effort with a career-high 14 boards, while classmate Hope Coacher (Ardmore, Pa./Haverford) just missed a double-double with 11 points, nine rebounds and four blocked shots. 

Amanda Floyd (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) led all scorers with 25 points as she knocked down four three-pointers and 10-of-17 shots overall. Anaiyah Allen (Lutz, Fla./Steinbrenner) packed the stat sheet with seven points, 12 rebounds and seven assists, while Sierra Diawara (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) added 10 points and six rebounds. 

Brandywine raced out to a 15-0 lead through four minutes and led 27-8 after one quarter thanks to 7-of-11 shooting from three-point territory. 

The rout continued in the second period as Coacher completed a three-point play and Floyd converted two steals into a pair of fast-break layups, upping the count to 35-8. 

The Lions owned a 45-10 lead at the break and saw their lead swell as large as 48 points when Brooks sank a free throw at the 2:50 mark of the third period.

Brandywine shot 42 percent from the field, buried 10 triples and grabbed 60 rebounds, while limiting Wilkes-Barre to 13 percent shooting.

Brandywine (11-15, 7-9 PSUAC) hosts Penn State York for its final regular-season home game Saturday at 1:00 PM.
