Lions Suffer Nonconference Defeat At Keystone

LAPLUME, Pa. -- Keystone College handed the Penn State Brandywine women's soccer team its first defeat of the season by a 3-1 count on Wednesday afternoon.

Keystone netted a pair of goals during the first half to grab a 2-0 lead after 45 minutes and extended its lead to 3-0 with a goal off the foot of Shauna Menzella in the 77th minute.

Brianna Banks (Philadelphia, Pa./Parkway Center) scored her second goal in as many games with just 12 seconds remaining in regulation to provide the final margin. Arianna Segich (Ocean City, N.J./Ocean City) and Brooke Muhlbaier (Millville, N.J./Millville) recorded assists on Banks' score.

Emily Bush (Bayville, N.J./Central Regional), named United States Collegiate Athletic Association Goalkeeper of the Week earlier Wednesday, made 10 stops while playing all 90 minutes in net. Giants' goalkeeper Sarah Heintz turned away nine of the 10 shots she faced from the Brandywine offense.

Keystone held a 14-10 edge in shots on goal and recorded 10 of the game's 14 corner kicks.

Brandywine (1-1), which plays six of its next seven matches on home soil, opens up Penn State University Athletic Conference play Sunday versus Penn State Greater Allegheny at 1:00 pm.
