Brandywine Deals Schuylkill First Loss

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine scored three goals in each half and dealt Penn State Schuylkill its first loss of the season following a 6-0 triumph on Tuesday afternoon at Maple Zone.

With the victory, Penn State Brandywine now stands alone atop the Penn State University Athletic Conference women's soccer standings with a 5-0 record and is 7-1 overall, while Schuylkill dropped to 5-1 in the league and 8-1 overall.

Brandywine held Schuylkill without a shot on goal, while accumulating 15 shots on net and 24 shot attempts total.

Ami Iannello (Media, Pa./Strath Haven), Brianna Banks (Philadelphia, Pa./Parkway Center) and Brooke Muhlbaier (Millville, N.J./Millville) all recorded four-point games as Iannello and Banks each scored twice and Muhlbaier dished out assists on four of Brandywine's six goals.

Following a hand ball in the box, Iannello deposited a penalty kick for Brandywine's first goal. Twelve minutes later, Banks netted her first goal and Olivia Encarnacion (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) added a third score before halftime at the 29:50 mark.

Banks upped the lead to 4-0 just 1:22 into the second half off a feed from Encarnacion and Brandywine put the game away with scores from Iannello and Sara Ropski (Folcroft, Pa./Archbishop Prendergast) during the final 22 minutes.

The Lions play their final home game of the 2016 regular season on Saturday when they host Penn State Beaver at 1:00 pm. Brandywine, which owns a 7-1 victory over Beaver in September, will honor its senior class prior to the game.
