Brandywine Slips Past Beaver 3-2

ASTON, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine held on for its seventh consecutive women's soccer win, defeating Penn State Beaver by a 3-2 score on Saturday afternoon at Maple Zone.

Brandywine is now 8-1 overall and 6-0 in the Penn State University Athletic Conference, while Beaver dropped to 3-7 overall and 1-4 in the PSUAC.

The game was scoreless until the 29th minute when Brooke Muhlbaier (Millville, N.J./Millville) drilled a penalty kick into the back of the net after a handball in the box.

Beaver took little time evening the game as it found the tying goal under five minutes later; however, Brianna Banks (Philadelphia, Pa./Parkway Center) put the Lions back in front at the half by scoring her 20th goal of the year.

Banks added a second score off a feed from Muhlbaier in the 53rd minute, giving Brandywine a two-goal edge. Banks has scored in every game this season and leads the conference in goals and points, while Muhlbaier owns a league-high eight assists.

Beaver got back within one following an own goal by Brandywine with 12 minutes to play, but goalkeeper Emily Bush (Bayville, N.J./Central Regional) stopped the only shot she faced the rest of the way and Brandywine held on for the one-goal triumph.

Bush stopped three shots for Brandywine, which outshot Beaver15-5. Brittany Zahn stopped 12 shots in the loss for Beaver.

Brandywine plays its final four regular season games on the road beginning Wednesday at Penn State Mont Alto (4:00 pm).
