Brandywine Picks Up 5-1 Win At Mont Alto

MONT ALTO, Pa. -- Samantha Bearden (Ewing, N.J./Ewing) scored one goal and assisted on three others as the Penn State Brandywine women's soccer team knocked off Penn State Mont Alto 5-1 on Wednesday afternoon.

Bearden netted her second goal of the season just over five minutes into the first half, giving Brandywine a 1-0 lead, but Mont Alto quickly tied the contest 3:21 later.

Brandywine took the lead for good with 6:47 to play in the opening stanza on a goal off the foot of Brianna Banks (Philadelphia, Pa./Parkway Center). Banks has now scored in all 10 of the team's games this fall, while Bearden picked up her first of three assists on the day.

The Lions padded their lead during the final 45 minutes as Rachel Weir (Neptune City, N.J./Red Bank Regional) made the score 3-1 in the 60th minute and Kierra MacLeod (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) netted the first goal of her collegiate career with 18:24 to play. Brooke Muhlbaier (Millville, N.J./Millville) capped the scoring with her fifth goal, running her point streak to four consecutive games.

Brandywine held a 15-3 edge in shots on goal and received a pair of saves from net minder Emily Bush (Bayville, N.J./Eastern Regional), who picked up her ninth win.

Brandywine travels to Penn State Greater Allegheny on Saturday for a 4:00 pm game.
