Women’s Soccer Season Concludes At USCAA Tournament

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Penn State Brandywine's women's soccer season came to an end following a 5-1 defeat against Cleary University (Mich.) at the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament on Saturday morning.

Brandywine finished off its second season as a varsity team with a record of 14-3 and as the undefeated champion of the Penn State University Athletic Conference under the direction of national coach of the year Sharif Saber.

Samantha Bearden (Ewing, N.J./Ewing) gave Brandywine the lead with her fourth goal of the season midway through the first half. However, Cleary evened the match at the 35:36 mark and took the lead for good with 60 seconds to play before the half. Brandywine took a lead during each of its two USCAA Tournament games, both against scholarship-granting institutions.

Cleary registered 23 shots on goal, while Brandywine collected seven. Danielle Chattin (Philadelphia, Pa./Parkway Center) stopped 13 shots during her first action of the year in net in the first half and Emily Bush (Bayville, N.J./Central Regional) blocked five during the final 45 minutes.

Bearden and Brooke Muhlbaier (Millville, N.J./Millville) both recorded two shots on goal for Brandywine. Muhlbaier also registered an assist on Bearden's goal, her team-leading 10th of the year.
