Women’s Soccer Welcomes Six Members Of 2017 Recruiting Class

MEDIA, Pa. -- First-year Head Coach Michelle Jacquette will welcome six freshmen to the defending Penn State University Athletic Conference champion women's soccer team when preseason camp begins later this week on campus.

Joining the Lions, who rolled to a 14-3 overall record and the team's first league crown in 2016, are rookies Erin Carty, Noelle Conforti, Courtney Harold, Emily Jefferson, Christina Kane and Sarah Richie.

Carty, who played at nearby Bonner-Prendergast High School, was selected as MVP after earning Second Team All-Catholic League and All-Delco honorable mention, while captaining the team during her senior season. As a junior, Carty received Third Team All-Catholic League recognition and earned the Coaches Award. Carty also competed for the Bonner-Prendergast girls basketball team.

Conforti played four years of varsity soccer for the top-ranked girls team in the nation at Colts Neck High School in New Jersey. She helped Colts Neck win a New Jersey state championship, along with two league crowns and a pair of sectional titles. During her club career, Conforti competed for the New Jersey Wildcats, who were ranked third in the state and 28th nationally. Outside of athletics, Conforti was a member of the peer leadership team and won the Community Spirit Award.

Harold graduated from Prep Charter High School in Philadelphia where she played center back. She also was a member of Starfinder and the Anderson Monarchs during her club career.

Jefferson comes to Brandywine following a three-year varsity career at Pope John XXIII Regional High School in Sparta, New Jersey. A second team all-conference selection, Jefferson was also claimed all-academic team laurels and won the Spirit of Pope John Award for displaying the most sportsmanship among members of the soccer team. As a member of the Mount Olive Premier Soccer Club, Jefferson helped the team to victories in the 2017 Needham Memorial Day Invitational and FC Boston Showcase. She also played for the 2017 Pocono Cup club team, the 17th-ranked team in the state.

A three-sport athlete in high school, Kane played four years of varsity soccer in addition to three years as a member of the softball and track teams at Upper Moreland High School. Kane was a Third Team All-Suburban One selection as a junior after claiming honorable mention accolades the season prior. A track team captain and team MVP, Kane was also successful during her club career, winning numerous championships.

Richie played two seasons of varsity soccer for William Tennent High School. She was also a member of the girls basketball team at William Tennent.

Brandywine gets its preseason underway this week in anticipation of the team's first regular season game at Immaculata on Sept. 1 (4:00 pm).
