IMMACULATA, Pa. – Penn State Brandywine trailed 1-0, but Brianna Banks (Philadelphia, Pa./Parkway Center) scored to tie the game with under 10 minutes remaining in regulation as the Lions played to a 1-1, double-overtime draw at Immaculata to begin the 2017 season on Friday afternoon.
Banks, the reigning PSUAC Player of the Year and USCAA All-American, has now scored at least one goal in 15 of 17 career games. The tally was the 31st of her two-year career.
Emily Bush (Bayville, N.J./Central Regional) came up big in goal for the Lions, stopping 10 of the 11 shots she faced, including two during the pair of overtime sessions and a pair of stops in the final five minutes of regulation.
Banks leaked past the Might Mac defense, scoring on a breakaway at the 81:17 mark, to tie the score. The Lions had two more shots on goal turned away by Immaculata goalkeeper Allie Tracey following Banks' game-tying score. Banks tallied five of Brandywine's six shots on goal.
Kayla Cadden had given Immaculata a 1-0 lead late in the first half after depositing a loose ball off a corner kick. Immaculata totaled 11 shots on goal led by Carly Quigly's three shots.
Brandywine (0-0-1) plays its first home match of the season on Tuesday against Keystone at 2:00 PM.
