Lions Blank Highlanders; Remain Unbeaten

LANGHORNE, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine women's soccer team scored twice in each half of a 4-0 victory at Cairn University on Saturday afternoon as the team ran its unbeaten streak to three games (2-0-1) to begin the year.

Brianna Banks (Philadelphia, Pa./Parkway Center) netted both of Brandywine's first-half scores, giving her goals in all three matches this season. After scoring at the 27:12 mark, Banks tacked on a second goal with under two minutes remaining before halftime off a feed from Erin Carty (Havertown, Pa./Bonner-Prendergast).

The Lions remained in control of the game during the final 45 minutes, outshooting Cairn 16-1. Amanda Roy (Wilmington, Del./Brandywine) added an insurance goal midway through the stanza, while Carty tallied her second assist of the contest on Christina Kane's (Hatboro, Pa./Upper Moreland) goal that capped the scoring during the 90th minute.

Emily Bush (Bayville, N.J./Central Regional) registered the shutout in goal by stopping all three shots she faced. The shutout was the first of the season for Bush and ninth of her two-year career.

Overall, Brandywine held a 34-3 advantage in shots and recorded all seven of the game's corner kicks.

Brandywine returns home on Tuesday when it faces an NCAA Division II opponent for the first time as Lincoln visits Media at 4:00 pm.
