Women's Soccer Duo Lands National Player Of The Week Honors

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine sophomores Brianna Banks (Philadelphia, Pa./Parkway Center) and Emily Bush (Bayville, N.J./Central Regional) claimed weekly women's soccer awards from the United States Collegiate Athletic Association on Tuesday as Banks was named offensive player of the week and Bush earned goalkeeper of the week. The duo also was selected as player and goalkeeper of the week by the Penn State University Athletic Conference for the second-straight week.

Brandywine (4-0-1) went 2-0 last week, earning victories over Penn State Beaver (6-1) and NCAA Division II Lincoln (5-1) led by Banks' five goals and 11 saves from Bush.

In Brandywine's first-ever matchup with a Division II opponent, Banks found the back of the net twice during the first half and Bush stopped seven of the eight shots she faced. The victory was the second in Brandywine's athletics history against a Division II foe, joining the women's tennis team's 8-1 triumph over Cheyney in April, 2016.

Banks added three more goals, while Bush turned away four shots as Brandywine won its 14th-straight match versus a conference opponent on Saturday at Beaver.

Banks has now scored at least two goals in four consecutive games and has scored in all five matches this fall. She leads the PSUAC with nine goals and 18 points.

In two seasons at Brandywine, Bush now owns a record of 18-2-1 as the Lions' starting keeper. She ranks at the top of the conference in wins (4), shutouts (1), goals-against average (0.96) and save percentage (.861) this fall.

Brandywine is on the road Wednesday visiting Penn State Hazleton at 4:00 pm.
