Brandywine Offense Continues To Cruise At Hazleton

HAZLETON, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine women's soccer team had no issues in continuing its unbeaten run to begin the season as the Lions captured a 7-2 victory at Penn State Hazleton on Wednesday to move to 5-0-1 this fall.

Brandywine, which has averaged 5.0 goals per game during its last five matches, all victories, is now unbeaten during its last 17 regular-season matches (16-0-1) dating back to last season.

Brianna Banks (Philadelphia, Pa./Parkway Center) added to her PSUAC-leading point total with three goals and one assist. Banks, who has scored in every game this season, has netted at least two goals in four-straight matches.

Noelle Conforti (Freehold, N.J./Colts Neck) and Averie Florschutz (Chadds Ford, Pa./Kennett) both produced a pair of goals and one assist for Brandywine.

Florschutz got the scoring started at the 5:28 mark of the first half and Banks added the Lions' second tally under two minutes later. After Hazleton got on the board in the 25th minute, Banks and Florschutz both netted goals to close the half, giving Brandywine a three-goal edge through 45 minutes.

Conforti's first goal came with 29:31 remaining in regulation. Just 13 seconds later, Banks completed her hat trick, while Conforti capped the scoring in the 67th minute.

Brandywine held a 32-9 edge in shots with Banks (9 shots) and Conforti (8 shots) leading the way. Goalkeeper Emily Bush (Bayville, N.J./Central Regional) posted three, while playing all 90 minutes in net.

Brandywine plays its final road match of the season on Sept. 28 at Penn State Schuylkill beginning at 2:00 PM.
