Banks Records 100th Career Point In Victory Over Beaver

MEDIA, Pa. -- Sophomore Brianna Banks (Philadelphia, Pa./Parkway Center) became the Penn State Brandywine women's soccer team's first-ever 100-point scorer on Saturday, helping the Lions to a 7-0 triumph over visiting Penn State Beaver.

Banks' goal jsut 3:15 into the match gave her an even 100 points in her 25th career match. She would finish the day with three goals and two assists, upping her total points to 106.

Noelle Conforti (Freehold, N.J./Colts Neck) added a goal and two helpers, while Amanda Roy (Wilmington, Del./Brandywine), Samantha Bearden (Ewing, N.J./Ewing) and Averie Florschutz (Chadds Ford, Pa./Kennett) also found the back of the net. Rachel Weir (Neptune City, N.J./Red Bank Regional) tallied a pair of assists.

Brandywine controlled the match from the outset, winning its second match against Beaver this season. The Lions held a 38-1 edge in the shot column. Netminder Emily Bush (Bayville, N.J./Central Regional) needed to stop just one shot to produce her third-straight shutout.

The Lions led 2-0 at the break via goals by Banks and Florschutz before doubling the advantage less than 14 minutes into the second half on Banks' final two goals on the day. Conforti, Bearden and Roy scored in succession between the 61st and 75th minutes to account for the final margin.

Brandywine (8-0-1, 5-0 PSUAC), which entered the day having already clinched the PSUAC regular-season championship, will look to complete its second-straight undefeated conference slate on Monday when the Lions host Penn State Schuylkill at 4:00 pm.
