Brandywine Bests Beaver; Opens Conference Play With Victory

MONACA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine opened Penn State University Athletic Conference women's soccer play on Saturday with a convincing 6-0 victory at Penn State Beaver.

The Lions (1-3, 1-0 PSUAC) picked up their first victory of the season and first win for head coach Elise Pratt, while extending their conference winning streak to 23 consecutive games.

Brianna Banks (Philadelphia, Pa./Parkway Center) scored three times, while Rachel Weir (Neptune City, N.J./Red Bank Regional), Averie Florschutz (Chadds Ford, Pa./Kennett) and Emily Bush (Bayville, N.J./Eastern Regional) all contributed one goal for the visitors.

Weir got the scoring started during the 18th minute and Banks quickly struck for the Lions' second tally just 6:02 later. Banks upped the lead to 3-0 at the break, tallying a goal in the 44th minute and then complete her second hat trick of the season 15 minutes after the beginning of the second half.

Florschutz found the back of the net to make the score 5-0 and Bush completed the goal scoring during the 88th minute.

Bush, who netted her first collegiate goal, also made four saves during her time in net. She split time with Danielle Chattin (Philadelphia, Pa./Parkway Center) between the pipes.

Brandywine outshot Beaver 26-5, including a 12-0 mark during the first 45 minutes, and attempted all nine of the match's corner kicks.

Brandywine continues its six-game road swing on Tuesday at Misericordia beginning at 5:00 PM.
