Women’s Soccer Hosts Mont Alto In PSUAC Semifinals Saturday

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine, the No. 1 seed in the Penn State University Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Tournament, will play host to No. 4 Penn State Mont Alto Saturday in the semifinals as the Lions look to win their third-straight conference title. With a nor'easter expected to hit the area this weekend, Saturday's match will be played at Penncrest High School's turf field. Game time remains 4:00 PM.

Brandywine has dominated its PSUAC competition during its championship reign, winning 25-straight matches against conference foes. The Lions' average margin of victory in those games is more than six goals per outing.

This fall, Brandywine outscored its six PSUAC opponents 33-1 en route to claiming the No. 1 seed in the tournament for the third-straight year. Overall, after beginning the year with three non-conference losses, Brandywine won nine of its final 10 matches to finish the regular season 9-4.

Brianna Banks, a two-time all-American and PSUAC Player of the Year, leads the offense with 19 goals and 44 total points, while Emily Jefferson (7G, 1A) and Averie Florshutz (5G, 2A) also rank in the top 10 in the conference in scoring.

In 10 starts, goalkeeper Emily Bush leads the PSUAC in wins (6) and goals-against average (2.32). She has also posted three shutouts, all against conference competition.

Mont Alto enters Saturday with a record of 4-6 overall after splitting six PSUAC matches. One of Mont Alto's conference losses came to Brandywine by a 5-0 count in September. Brandywine has never lost in six all-time meetings with Mont Alto, including an 11-1 victory in the 2016 PSUAC semifinals.

The winner of Saturday's matchup will head to State College for the PSUAC championship match on Wednesday against the winner of the second semifinal game. That match has No. 2 Hazleton hosting No. 3 Beaver on Saturday.
