Brandywine Reaches PSUAC Championship With 3-0 Victory Over Mont Alto

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine will play in the Penn State University Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Tournament championship game for the fourth-straight year, looking for its third consecutive championship, as the top-seeded Lions advanced following a 3-0 triumph over No. 4 Penn State Mont Alto Saturday evening in the semifinal round.

Brandywine will travel to University Park for a Wednesday title tilt with No. 2 Penn State Hazleton. The Lions, who own a 3-1 victory over Hazleton earlier this fall, will play for the crown beginning at 6:00 PM on the West Campus Turf Field.

The Lions received a pair of goals from Brianna Banks (Philadelphia, Pa./Parkway Center), pushing her past 70 career goals in just 42 matches.

Banks' first tally came at the 33:19 mark after taking a long pass from Angelina Maroulis (Brookhaven, Pa./Sun Valley) and beating Mont Alto keeper Angel Schoonover.

Exactly seven minutes later, Emily Jefferson (Sparta, N.J./Pope John XXIII Regional) added a second score for the Lions, upping Brandywine's lead to 2-0 before halftime.

Banks completed her two-goal effort in the 61st minute, racing past the Mont Alto defense after gathering a pass from Rachel Weir (Neptune City, N.J./Red Bank Regional) and depositing the score into the bottom corner of the cage.

Brandywine held a big advantage in shots, attempting 36, compared to only three for Mont Alto. The Lions put 17 shots on target, while also recording five of the match's six corner kicks.

Goalkeeper Emily Bush (Bayville, N.J./Central Regional) needed to stop just one shot during her 75-plus minutes in net to earn her ninth win. Brandywine blanked a PSUAC opponent for the sixth time in seven matches this fall.
