Four Women’s Soccer Players Earn USCAA All-American Accolades

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine's women's soccer team received four all-American awards from the United States Collegiate Athletic Association as Brianna Banks (Philadelphia, Pa./Parkway Center) was named to the first team, Angelina Maroulis (Brookhaven, Pa./Sun Valley) was selected to the second team and Amanda Roy (Wilmington, Del./Brandywine) and Rachel Weir (Neptune City, N.J./Red Bank Regional) earned honorable mention accolades.

Banks, the first student-athlete in any sport at Brandywine to earn three first team all-American awards, was the nation's leading goal scorer with 29 tallies this fall, seven more than her closest competitor. Also the USCAA leader in points, Banks produced 65 total points, while starting all 16 games for Brandywine.

She scored five times in three USCAA Tournament games, capping a streak of six consecutive matches with at least two goals. Banks also netted three scores in Brandywine's conference championship victory over Hazleton on Oct. 31, one-of-six three-goal games for her this fall.

Banks will enter her senior season needing 21 goals to reach 100 for her career and 22 total points shy of 200.

Maroulis was one-of-four Lions to start all 16 games during her junior season. As a midfielder, Maroulis contributed two goals and two assists. One of her goals came at the USCAA Tournament in a victory over NHTI that sent the Lions to the national championship match.

In three years at Brandywine, Maroulis has appeared in 45 matches, recording nine total points on three goals and three assists.

Roy also played in all 16 of Brandywine's matches, collecting two goals and one assist in the midfield. She recorded her assist during Brandywine's PSUAC championship victory over Hazleton, while tallying 20 shots overall on the season.

Roy concluded her three-year career with the Lions having played in 37 games with five goals and two assists.

A junior, Weir was a member of the Brandywine defense that ranked in the top 10 nationally in goals-against average at 1.81 and produced six shutouts. Offensively, she tied for fifth on the team by netting three goals and five assists for 11 points. Her five assists were the third-highest total on the team.

A three-time first team all-conference selection, Weir has collected 17 goals and 18 assists in 44 career games at Brandywine.
