Seven Fall Student-Athletes Honored On USCAA National Academic Teams

MEDIA, Pa. -- Seven student-athletes on Penn State Brandywine's fall teams were recently named to the United States Collegiate Athletic Association National Academic Team. Those honored included five women's soccer players: Brianna Banks, Averie Florschutz, Angelina Maroulis, Amanda Roy and Rachel Weir; and men's golfers Marc Pecko and Connor Sadoff.

The USCAA National Academic Team award honors student-athletes during each season who have compiled a grade-point average of at least 3.50 and reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at their institution.

Maroulis, Roy and Weir all earned their second consecutive USCAA National Academic Team award for the women's soccer team, which finished the season as the national runner-up after reaching the USCAA National Championship game. Brandywine closed the year with a record of 13-4.

In addition, Banks, Maroulis, Roy and Weir all earned USCAA All-American laurels last week, while Florschutz landed All-Penn State University Athletic Conference honorable mention accolades. Banks is the only three-time First Team All-American in Brandywine history.

Pecko and Sadoff helped Brandywine men's golf to a seventh-place finish in the PSUAC and claim 17th at the USCAA Championship for the second consecutive season.

The duo, both sophomores, earned PSUAC All-Academic Team honors last year as freshmen. Sadoff's top round of the fall season was an 89, which he fired at the PSUAC Invitational in September, while Pecko carded a 98 at the same event.
