Brandywine Downs Scranton 7-0

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine upped its conference record to 2-0 as the Lions' women's soccer team upended Penn State Scranton 7-0 on Wednesday afternoon.
 
The Lions received goals in the first half from Brianna Banks (Philadelphia, Pa./Parkway Center), Alyssa Hanrahan (Clifton Heights, Pa./Upper Darby) and Nicole Zuppo (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) to build a 3-0 lead through 45 minutes.
 
Zuppo netted her first-career goal just 1:40 into the game, while Banks scored to make the score 2-0 at the 11:35 mark. Hanrahan upped the margin to three goals following Gabby DiBernardino's (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) corner kick.
 
Banks accounted for all of the scoring in the second half, tallying five goals. Banks now has 97 goals for her career, including 18 this season, and four consecutive games with at least three goals.
 
Banks also added an assist on Zuppo's tally for an 11-point day, while Averie Florschutz (Chadds Ford, Pa./Kennett) collected two assists on Banks' goals during the final half.
 
Brandywine goalkeeper Emily Bush (Bayville, N.J./Central Regional) turned away one shot to record her first shutout and second victory of the season. Scranton netminder Trinity Gammaitoni made 20 stops for the visitors, who were outshot 41-1 by Brandywine.
 
Brandywine (2-6, 2-0 PSUAC) travels to Albright Saturday night for a 6:00 pm match.
