Banks Records 100th Career Goal In 5-1 Triumph

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine senior Brianna Banks (Philadelphia, Pa./Parkway Center) tallied the 100th goal of her collegiate career as the Lions' women's soccer team knocked off Lancaster Bible College 5-1 on Monday afternoon.

Banks registered her 100th goal at the 55:27 mark of the second half, extending the Lions' lead to 4-1. Banks, who scored three times for her fifth consecutive game with a hat trick, needed just 55 career games to reach triple digits. She owns a PSUAC-leading 21 goals this season, nine shy of her career high, which she set as a freshman.

Averie Florschutz (Chadds Ford, Pa./Kennett) got the scoring started for the Lions in the third minute, tallying her first goal after the ball was misplayed by LBC goalkeeper Hannah Lieb following a Brandywine corner kick.

Banks added two first-half goals for the Lions, giving Brandywine a 3-1 lead at the break. After Banks scored her milestone goal, Nicole Zuppo (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) provided the final margin, scoring off a feed from Rachel Weir (Neptune City, N.J./Red Bank Regional) during the 62nd minute.

Lions' net minder Emily Bush stopped four of the five shots she faced in just over 67 minutes to earn her third win, while Taniar Combs (Folcroft, Pa./Academy Park) made one save during the final 23 minutes in goal.

Brandywine (3-6, 2-0 PSUAC) looks for its fourth-straight win Wednesday night when the Lions visit Widener at 7:00 pm.
