Brandywine Wins Big On Senior Day

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine closed out its women's soccer regular season with a Senior Day victory over Penn State Schuylkill as the Lions claimed a 8-0 triumph Saturday afternoon.

Brandywine received two goals and two assists from Brianna Banks (Philadelphia, Pa./Parkway Center) and Bryonna Worthy (Old Bridge, N.J./The Hun School of Princeton), while Gabby DiBernardino (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) added a goal and an assist.

Ilycia Perez (Dover, Del./Dover), Samantha Gostanian (Allen, Texas/Allen) and Angelina Maroulis (Brookhaven, Pa./Sun Valley) also found the back of the net for the Lions, who outshot Schuylkill 39-0.

Banks registered the first strike of the game at the 14:29 mark and less than a minute later found Worthy for the Lions' second goal.

Worthy assisted on tallies by Gostanian and Perez in the 19th and 21st minutes, respectively, before Banks added her second goal of the game, making the score 5-0 at the half.

Brandywine added on with scores by DiBernardino and Maroulis before Worthy registered her second goal, capping the goal scoring in the 60th minute.

Three Brandywine goalkeepers combined on the shuout as each went untested in goal. Demareste Dorvilma (Carteret, N.J./Carteret) earned her first win of the season.

Brandywine, which won its 34th-straight, regular-season PSUAC match, finished with a perfect 6-0 mark in the league for a fourth-straight season. The Lions will be in the No. 1 seed in the PSUAC Tournament, which begins Saturday, Oct. 26 with a semifinal match against No. 4 Penn State Scranton.

Brandywine and Scranton will meet at 7:30 pm on Oct. 26 in West Chester at the West Chester United turf fields. The Lions will be seeking their fifth-straight championship game appearance.
