Rutgers-Camden Downs Brandywine In Fall Finale

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine closed out its fall women's tennis slate with a 6-3 defeat at the hands of Rutgers-Camden on Sunday afternoon.

Brandywine opened up a 2-1 lead after winning a pair of doubles matches. Elizabeth Sexton (Berwyn, Pa./Westtown School) and Melody Zheng (Wilmington, Del./Mt. Pleasant) teamed to win at No. 2 doubles by an 8-6 count, while Katie Corey (Lansdowne, Pa./Agora Cyber Charter) and Alexis Ellison (Wilmington, Del./Mt. Pleasant) claimed the third flight doubles 8-3.

However, Rutgers-Camden claimed the match by winning five-of-six singles bouts. Roxanne-Mae Agno (Drexel Hill, Pa./Upper Darby) took the lone singles triumph for the Lions, winning at No. 4 in three sets.

Brandywine closed out its fall season with one victory in six matches. The Lions will return to the courts in the spring on March 9 with a home date versus McDaniel.
