Women’s Tennis Edged In Spring Opener

MEDIA, Pa. – The Penn State Brandywine women's tennis team was edged 5-4 by McDaniel College on Thursday afternoon during the opening match of the team's spring slate.

The Lions picked up singles victories in the No. 3 and No. 4 flights as Katie Corey (Lansdowne, Pa./Agora Cyber Charter) and Stephanie Bryan (Drexel Hill, Pa./Ridley) were triumphant. Corey posted a straight-set win by scores of 6-4, 6-4, while Bryan outlasted Lindsay Russell 7-5, 4-6, 10-5.

Brandywine's two additional points came via forfeits as Ami Iannello (Media, Pa./Strath Haven) was a winner by forfeit in her No. 6 singles matched and the duo of Iannello and Katrina Persaud (West Chester, Pa./International Berkcley School) won at their third-flight of doubles by forfeit.

Brandywine is on the road Wednesday against Bryn Mawr at 4:00 pm.
