Brandywine beat Mont Alto 3-2 to stay undefeated in league play

Brandywine Volleyball faced off against Penn State Mont Alto on Tuesday night in a match that quickly turned into a battle.

Brandywine took the court with energy and high hopes of continuing their undefeated season and came out strong taking the first set 25-20. The second set was a back and forth game with both teams siding out often and trading points. Brandywine was unable to maintain control and fell to Mont Alto 25-18. Between sets Brandywine changed up their offensive strategy and won 25-17 after a forceful showing from their front row. The fourth was another tough loss for Brandywine as they made unforced errors falling 25-17. Game five started slow for Brandywine who went into the switch down 8-4. After two more points for Mont Alto, Brandywine took control of the ball and was lead by Emily Battista who served seven points straight to give Brandywine a small lead. From there the team turned it up and were able to come out on top winning 15-13 and taking the match.

Amanda Rasley (Springfield), Nicole Costa (Upper Darby) and Kirsten Jerla (Academy of Notre Dame) were attack leaders for Brandywine with ten, nine and seven kills respectively. Kim Russo (West Chester East) added 21 digs and Kelsi Wiest (Sun Valley) contributed 17 digs backrow. Setter Miranda Biondi (Marple Newtown) had 19 assists on the match.

Brandywine heads into a long weekend in the west with their heads up and spirits high. They will face off against PS Greater Allegheny and PS Fayette Saturday 9/28 as well as PS Beaver and PS New Kensington Sunday 9/29.
