Lions Open Dig Pink Weekend With Two Wins

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine won a pair of Penn State University Athletic Conference volleyball matches on Saturday afternoon, knocking off Penn State Lehigh Valley and Penn State Hazleton during its annual Dig Pink quad matches. For the sixth year in a row, Brandywine volleyball partnered with the Side-Out Foundation to raise money and awareness for breast cancer research during the quad matches.

Against Lehigh Valley, Brandywine claimed a trio of closely-contested sets, winning 25-22, 25-18, 25-23.

Nikki Poissant (Aston, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) collected 11 kills and 10 digs, while Sullivan Stark (Middletown, Del./William Penn) added to her PSUAC-leading assist total with 33 helpers. She also added two aces and four digs.

Nicolette Napoleon (Springfield, Pa./Penn Charter) and Hannah Sarafinas (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) both chipped in eight kills and Halee Kusner (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) tallied seven.

Becca Civera (Boothwyn, Pa./Chichester) recorded team bests with 15 digs and seven aces, while Emily Battista (Broomall, Pa./Marple Newtown) registered seven digs and Kelsey Zober (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) added six digs.

Poissant, Napoleon and Rikelle Taylor (Nottingham, Pa./Solanco) all recorded eight kills during the nightcap against Hazleton, when the Lions rolled to set victories by scores of 25-10, 25-16, 25-6.

Poissant also collected 10 aces, while Civera produced six kills, six digs and four aces. Stark dished out 31 assists and Battista added eight more digs.

Brandywine (6-2, 2-0 PSUAC) hosts Penn State Scranton and Penn State Wilkes Barre during the final day of Dig Pink on Sunday beginning at noon.
