Lions Sweep At Schuylkill; Secure No. 2 Seed In PSUAC Tournament

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine volleyball team swept its final Penn State University Athletic Conference matches of the regular season, downing Penn State Schuylkill and Penn State DuBois on Sunday, while securing the No. 2 seed in the PSUAC Tournament in the process.

Brandywine (18-6, 12-2 PSUAC), which won the PSUAC Tournament last year for the first time, will receive a bye through the quarterfinals and await either the No. 3 seed or No. 6 seed in the semifinal round at Penn State's Rec Hall on Nov. 1. The Lions close out the regular season with a non-league, home match versus Albright on Friday evening (6:00 pm).

Against Schuylkill, Brandywine cruised to a three-set win by scores of 25-8, 25-10, 25-14.

Nicolette Napoleon (Springfield, Pa./Penn Charter) and Nikki Poissant (Aston, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) both produced seven kills, while Halee Kusner (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) and Becca Civera (Boothwyn, Pa./Chichester) each recorded five.

Poissant and Kelsey Zober (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) both set down six aces and Napoleon added a pair of aces. Sullivan Stark (Middletown, Del./Willam Penn) registered 24 assists and six digs.

Leading the way with nine digs was Poissant, while Emily Battista (Broomall, Pa./Marple Newtown) added eight digs and Kusner tallied three blocks.

Kusner topped the team with 10 kills against DuBois, which Brandywine handled in three sets by scores of 25-12, 25-13, 25-8.

Poissant added nine more kills along with seven digs, while Napoleon, Civera and Rikelle Taylor (Solanco, Pa./Nottingham) each recorded five kills.

Stark dished out 34 assists and added six digs and two aces. Civera paced all players with 10 digs, while Battista recorded eight digs and a pair of aces.
