Lions Handle Mont Alto To Open PSUAC Slate

MONT ALTO, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine got Penn State University Athletic Conference volleyball play started on a positive note Tuesday night by earning a 3-0 road triumph over Penn State Mont Alto. Set scores for the match were 25-23, 25-18, 25-21.

Playing for the first time in nine days, Brandywine showed no rust as the Lions won their fourth-straight match and sixth in seven contests overall this fall.

Margot Gargus (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) bested all players with 13 kills, while Nikki Poissant (Aston, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) tallied eight kills and both Nicolette Napoleon (Springfield, Pa./Penn Charter) and Lauren Kelly (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) collected six. Hannah Sarafinas (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) added five kills and Sullivan Stark (Middletown, Del./William Penn) recorded 39 assists.

Becca Civera (Boothwyn, Pa./Chichester) topped the team by registering 13 digs along with two service aces. Poissant added 10 digs, while Kelly posted eight and Gargus totaled five. Napoleon recorded a pair of blocks and two digs.

Brandywine (6-1, 1-0 PSUAC) closes out its road trip Thursday at Penn State Berks (7:00 pm).
