Brandywine's Winning Streak Reached Double Figures With Victory At Bryn Athyn

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine's winning streak now sits at 10 consecutive matches as the Lions defeated Bryn Athyn in straight sets for the second time this season on Monday night. Set scores for the non-conference volleyball match were 25-14, 25-17, 25-11.

Nikki Poissant (Aston, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) posted team highs with nine kills and nine digs, while Sullivan Stark (Middletown, Del./William Penn) collected 28 assists and six digs.

Hannah Sarafinas (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) totaled seven kills and Nicolette Napoleon (Springfield, Pa./Penn Charter) and Lauren Kelly (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) both tallied six. Rikelle Taylor (Nottingham, Pa./Solanco) added five kills, while Becca Civera (Boothwyn, Pa./Chichester) amassed a team-best three aces. Civera also registered six digs and Napoleon recorded seven.

Brandywine opened up a 13-4 lead during set No. 1 and never led by fewer than seven the rest of the way to claim a 1-0 edge in the match.

The Lions also led wire-to-wire during the second set, pushing the lead as large as 12 points before settling for the 25-17 victory following a late Bryn Athyn surge.

Three kills by both Poissant and Napoleon helped Brandywine claim a 15-5 edge early in the third set. The Lions would cruise to the finish, scoring the final six points of the frame to earn the sweep.

Brandywine (16-2, 9-0 PSUAC) plays its final seven matches against conference foes beginning with contests against Penn State Wilkes Barre (2:00 PM) and Penn State Scranton (4:00 PM) on Saturday.
